Consoles Defeat the PC

The tribe has spoken... - ... and the PC has been voted off the island. The As the Gaming World Turns poll on gaming system preference saw the console defeat the PC by a 68% to 13% margin. And I didn't even vote for either one! I voted for the last choice, you know, the booby one. They always distract me.
.
Only 22 people voted but the victory was clear. So why such an overwhelming victory for the console? Is it the consoles more reasonable price? Is it games you can actually trade in? Is it mouse and keyboard induced carpal tunnel causing a mass exodus? Or is this yet another sign that the PC as a gaming unit is going the way of the HD DVD player? Its premature to say the PC is dead but unless someone can convince me otherwise (any takers?), its certainly on life support. Sorry PC gamers, this is a console world, and you're just living it it.

Turning Point Achievements - Before I dish out the Achievements for Turning Points: The Fall of Liberty, here are a few first impressions after spending time with it this weekend. Average graphics, occassional lag, and a lot of collision detection issues with Nazi's dying in a frozen pose like Lorne Greene in Battlestar Galactica. Despite all of those negatives I've really been enjoying the game. The premise is solid and the gameplay is fun. Right now, its a solid rental. If the multiplayer is good, and I'm not sure because I haven't tried it yet, it might be worth keeping for more than 2 weeks.

"it's a solid rental"

who the hell rents game's anymore?. ever since they jacked up the rental prices for next gen games to $10 i decided to never rent again. it's easier to buy it and trade it in right away for a $20 difference. i haven't rented a game in like 4 years.

I use GameFly - love it. I get the games in two days, and the deals are solid if you want to purchase.

I rent games and I get about 1 new game a week mailed to me. Plenty of other people rent them as well. Its a great way to test out a game before investing your money. I'd rather spend $8 on a rental that sucks than $60 on a game that sucks. And if you like a title, I know GameCrazy lets you use your rental fee toward your purchase if you rented it from an attached Hollywood Video.

I totally disagree with your buy and trade in quick move. Instead of renting the game for $10, you're "renting" it for $20. That makes no sense. But I guess rich accountants who light their cigars with $100 can do that

i forgot to mention the time i returned a game and they said i turned in an empty box. i tried to fight it and they made me buy them a new one anyway. that also hinders my belief of game rentals.

i see your points but i stand by my statement.

apparently there is something in the contract you sign when you get your mebership card that states you will replace any items not returned. my best guess is some jackass employee took the game and i got stuck with the bill. that and i was like 19 at the time. no one would believe me over hollywood video.

Simple... you voted 20 times, Terry. ;)

Or is this yet another sign that the PC as a gaming unit is going the way of the HD DVD player?

HAHAAH! You're just bitter because you actually got suckered into buying an HD DVD player. But hey, if you like listening to (and playing with) 13 year old R-tards whining for their mama's, that's your dealio. Then again we're talking to a GUY (presumably) that likes listening to Gayplay, so there ya go.

Its premature...

That's what she said.

... to say the PC is dead... its certainly on life support.

LMAO! Lemme see... they ("they" being k0nz013 tards) have been predicting the demise of the PC since before you were born. Ain't happened yet. Ain't ever gonna happen. Keep on babbling your predictions. It worked well for the HD DVD player after all. But feel free to hold your breath. Please.

Sorry PC gamers, this is a console world, and you're just living it it.

Someone's been smokin' and tokin' - A LOT. I smell mindless pod people. ;)

Cheers!

The consoles won the polls because the people that voted can't figure out how to use a PC when they have to build it and then install a game, but they know how to browse the internet on their Dell systems, apparently. Yes, PCs are more powerful than any console but you have to make it that way and have to put some thought into it and actually design a system. That's way too much work for most people. That's too difficult. The people that did NOT vote are the PC gamers. They were too busy installing the latest $600 video card and missed the vote. So you see, in reality...both groups of people lose. Or they both win...I dunno. I play PC and XBOX 360. Again, both have strong points. And weak points. yay
